Burglar Nabbed in the Act Jailed for Nearly Four Years
A brazen burglar caught red-handed inside a home he had just broken into has been slammed with a hefty prison sentence.
Paul Stone, 44, from Strood, was locked up for three years and nine months after pleading guilty to burglary at Maidstone Crown Court on 13 July 2020.
Caught Mid-Heist After Family Hear Noises
Stone broke into a house on Hollywood Lane, Wainscott at 11.30pm on 12 June. The terrified homeowners heard strange noises coming from their kitchen.
When one of the residents went to check, Stone tried to make a run for it. But he was blocked in the garden and held down by the victim until police arrived.
Desperate, Stone pleaded for release, claiming he hadn’t eaten for two days. His excuses fell flat.
Stolen Gadgets Found, Prolific Burglar Exposed
Police found a bag with stolen electronics belonging to the family. PC Dennigan Tyson from Kent Police said Stone is “a prolific burglar” who committed the latest crime while on licence for a previous offence.
“He was brazen, breaking in while the family sat in their living room. He showed no remorse and caused real fear. I hope this sentence sends a clear message that this crime won’t be tolerated.”
