Swindon Predator Jailed for Horrific Child Sex Abuse in Oxfordshire
Phillip Lewis, 41, from Highworth, Swindon, has been slammed with a 14-year prison sentence after a unanimous jury found him guilty of multiple child sex offences. The sickening crimes, which unfolded over years in West Oxfordshire during the 2010s, included rape, sexual assault, and abuse in front of a child.
Graphic Abuse Spanned Years of Grooming
Lewis was convicted of one count of rape of a child, three counts of sexual assault of a child, one count of assault by penetration, and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child. The twisted offences all stemmed from years of grooming his young victim.
Judge Sends Clear Message with Lengthy Sentence
At Oxford Crown Court, Lewis was handed a lengthy 14-year jail term and ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for life. The court made it clear that such vile crimes will face severe punishment.
Victim Praised for Bravery, Police Urge Other Victims to Speak Out
“The nature of Lewis’s offending was horrendous, and the victim has shown tremendous bravery and resilience in coming forward and reporting this,” said Detective Constable Phillipa Metcalfe, Child Abuse Investigation Unit.
“Lewis will now serve a lengthy prison sentence as a result, and I would encourage anybody who has been a victim of sexual offences to please come forward and report it to the police.
“You will be listened to and will be supported by experienced officers and staff.”
