Two Men Attacked at July Race Day Brawl

Chaos erupted near the Gordon Enclosure at the racecourse on Friday 30 July. At around 5.15pm, two 26-year-old men were assaulted by a group of other males during the final afternoon of the July meeting. Both suffered head injuries but luckily did not need hospital treatment.

Arrest Made As Police Hunt More Suspects

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray, actual bodily harm, and possession of an item. After being questioned, he was released under investigation while police continue their probe.

Police Plea for Witnesses and Video Footage

PC Stephen Webb said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to identify and trace others involved. If you saw the incident or have any video footage, or can name anyone responsible, please get in touch.”
