Essex Man Jailed for Sex Attacks on Teen at Work Experience
Kim Lamplugh, 48, from Birchwood, Birchanger, Essex, was locked up for over two-and-a-half years after being found guilty of seven counts of sexual assault. The verdict came down at Wood Green Crown Court on 5 October, with sentencing on 29 November handing him two years and seven months behind bars, alongside a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a spot on the sex offenders register.
Shocking Abuse During Teen’s Work Placement
The victim, just 14 years old, started a two-week work experience at Lamplugh’s Enfield business in January 2019. But instead of a positive experience, the teenager was subjected to a series of escalating sexual assaults.
Brave Victim’s Report Sparks Justice
The young girl showed tremendous courage by reporting Lamplugh’s vile conduct to the police. An investigation swiftly followed, with Lamplugh charged on 13 June 2020. He was released on conditional bail until his trial.
Detective Urges Other Victims to Step Forward
Detective Constable Annette Corry from North Area CID said: “This was a predatory offence targeting a vulnerable young girl. I want to praise the victim for bravely coming forward and providing evidence that led to this conviction.”
She added: “If you have been a victim of sexual abuse, we want to hear from you. We offer confidential support and will use every skill to bring offenders to justice.”
Anyone with information or who believes they have been victimised by Lamplugh is urged to contact North Area CID on 101 or tweet @MetCC quoting CAD3463/02DEC21.
