Katie Price Avoids Jail After Drunk Driving Crash
Katie Price, 43, from Worthing Road, Dial Post, Horsham, dodged jail today at Crawley Magistrates’ Court. She pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified, without insurance, and under the influence of alcohol. The offences stem from a 6.20am single-vehicle crash in West Grinstead on September 28.
Suspended Sentence and Tough Penalties
Price was handed a 16-week suspended sentence. She must complete 100 hours of unpaid work and attend 20 rehabilitation activity requirement (RAR) sessions within the next year. The court also banned her from driving for two years and fined her £85 in costs.
Police Slam Sentence, Consider Appeal
“Today’s sentencing, as the judge explained, could have and should have been much worse,” said Supt James Collis, Head of Roads Policing for Sussex and Surrey Police. “Price is extremely lucky not to be spending Christmas behind bars.”
“Given her history and the risks she posed, it’s clear she ignored the danger to the public and her own family. We are now exploring whether we can appeal this sentence.”
