Ex-Cop Harry Tangye Takes the Wheel as Learn2Live Ambassador
Former Devon and Cornwall Police sergeant Harry Tangye has been named ambassador for Learn2Live, a powerful partnership of emergency services and local road safety teams. For over a decade, Learn2Live has been delivering free, immersive theatre-style road safety training to sixth form students across Devon — reaching a massive 120,000 young people so far.
Cutting-Edge Research Backs Theatre-Style Road Safety Sessions
The timing couldn’t be better. Alongside Harry’s new role, fresh scientific research has just been revealed. The Learn2Live team, working with the RAC Foundation and Cranfield University, handed over three years of data to research director Elizabeth Box. Her findings were unveiled this week at the Young Driver Conference in London — confirming theatre presentations as an effective way to warn young drivers about road dangers.
Thousands More Set to Benefit This Year Across Devon and Cornwall
Learn2Live is ramping up efforts in 2024, aiming to educate around 18,000 young drivers in Devon and Cornwall. The initiative not only highlights the risks of dangerous driving but also equips youngsters with the skills to stay safe on the roads.
Harry Tangye: A Voice That Packs Punch
“As a police officer dealing with road traffic collisions for many years, I have seen firsthand the difference Learn2Live makes,” Harry Tangye said. “It’s been a privilege to be part of the team. Being asked to become an ambassador after 30 years in the police is a real honour. I’m proud to stay involved in such a professional and vital cause.”
Devon and Somerset Fire Rescue Chief Fire Officer Lee Howell added: “We’re thrilled to welcome Harry as ambassador. His deep knowledge and compassionate approach will be invaluable in educating young drivers about road safety.”
