Fire Station Break-In Shocks Tuxford
Police were scrambled to Tuxford Fire Station on Clark Lane just after 1am on Tuesday morning (1 August) following a brazen break-in.
Thieves Slash Security Lock and Swipe Fire Truck
Officials revealed the culprits cut through a security lock and nabbed a flatbed fire truck after finding the keys inside the station. The stolen vehicle is still missing as investigations continue.
Police and Fire Chiefs Appeal for Witnesses
Inspector Hayley Crawford of Nottinghamshire Police blasted the incident: “To break into a fire station and steal a vehicle is completely unacceptable.”
She urged locals to speak up if they saw anything suspicious or captured footage around the early hours of Tuesday near Tuxford Fire Station.
Group Manager Chris Emmott from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service added: “Our fire stations are here to protect the community, not to be targeted. We’re working with police and neighbouring forces to find out who’s behind this.”
Emmott reassured the public that despite the theft, Tuxford crews remain fully operational and ready to respond to emergencies.
