Massive Walrus Thor Washes Up in Calshot – Locals Told to Back Off!

In the early hours today, a huge walrus nicknamed Thor was spotted on Calshot Beach, sparking a buzz among locals and wildlife fans alike. British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) is keeping a close eye on the giant marine mammal but warns everyone to stay well clear.

Experts Beg Public: Don’t Disturb Thor

BDMLR officials say Thor needs time to rest and regain strength before continuing its journey. Details on the walrus’s age and gender remain a mystery. Dan Jarvis, BDMLR’s director of welfare and conservation, revealed Thor has recently been spotted in the Netherlands, Dieppe, and Brittany.

“Repeated visitors will prevent the animal from conserving energy and making its next journey,” Jarvis said. “The more people who can leave it alone, the better its chances of survival.”

Authorities Move to Protect the Tusked Giant

Coastguard officers have quickly established a cordon on the beach to shield Thor from the growing crowds. This move ensures the walrus isn’t stressed by too much human attention.

Meet Thor: A Real Sea Giant

  • Fully grown walruses can weigh up to two tonnes.
  • They measure nearly four metres long – that’s taller than most cars!
  • Tusked and tough, these creatures can live for up to 40 years.

For now, all eyes remain on Thor, but the message is clear: admire from a distance and let nature take its course.
