Man pleads guilty to horrific North Finchley murder
Jermaine Myers, 37, of Woodhouse Road, N12, has pleaded guilty to the brutal killing of Nicholas Sutin. Myers admitted the charges at the Old Bailey on Monday, 6 March. Sentencing is set for Monday, 13 March at the same court.
Deadly attack unfolded in early hours
The nightmare began just after 4am on 27 May 2022, when police and London Ambulance were called to a disturbance on High Road, North Finchley. Nicholas, a homeless man sleeping rough by a bench near the Tally Ho pub, was found with stab wounds and catastrophic head injuries.
Despite emergency efforts, Nicholas died at the scene.
Knife and concrete slab weapon in savage assault
Myers, armed with a knife, approached Nicholas without provocation. He stabbed him twice and then brutally smashed a concrete slab over his head, causing fatal injuries.
Forensics and CCTV seal the case
- Forensic traces on the concrete slab quickly linked Myers to the attack.
- CCTV footage captured the entire incident, including Myers’ movements to and from the scene.
- Myers was arrested the very next day at his Woodhouse Road home.
Detective Chief Inspector Linda Bradley, Met Specialist Crime Command, said: “The violence inflicted on Nicholas was savage and unrelenting. He stood no chance of survival.
“There was no connection or provocation from Nicholas — Myers targeted him for no clear reason.
“The court’s acceptance of Myers’ guilty plea brings some closure. I hope Nicholas’s family can now begin to heal from this horrific loss.”
