Granddaughter Jailed for Bleeding Grandad’s Savings Dry on Takeaways and Tattoos

Nicole Taylor, 25, from Chorley, has been sentenced to 14 months in prison after racking up a staggering £37,363.63 on her vulnerable grandfather’s bank card. The Preston Crown Court handed down the sentence following a police probe.

Trusted Power of Attorney Betrays Grandfather

Back in 2020, Taylor was granted power of attorney when her grandfather’s health declined, and he moved into a care home. She was entrusted with managing his home and allowed to use his bank card only for essentials like repairs and bills.

Splurged on Takeaways, Tattoos and Suspected Drugs

Instead, over the course of a year, Taylor blew tens of thousands on takeaways, tattoos and cash withdrawals — money police believe went on drugs. Taylor later admitted she had a drug problem.

Family Spot the Theft, Police Step In

The victim’s family soon discovered the shocking thefts and handed over bank statements to police. Taylor was charged with theft, pleaded guilty and was promptly jailed.

Detective Constable Rebecca Pugh said: “Taylor took advantage of her vulnerable grandfather at his time of need. The money spent was money he had earned and saved through working his whole life. Her greed has left her family and in particular her grandfather devastated. The financial loss means he can no longer choose his care home because she selfishly took away that luxury. We welcome a custodial prison sentence, which is reflective of the offending Taylor committed.”
