Taxi Driver Stabbed in Shocking 4am Attack in Kirkby

Just after 4am on Wednesday 15 February, police were alerted to a stabbing incident involving a taxi driver in Kirkby. The victim was attacked after dropping off passengers in the area.

Violent Assault Inside Moving Car

The driver had ferried two men from an address on Jean Walk to Dragon Lane in a silver Toyota Prius. After dropping one man off at a different address in Prescot, the second passenger demanded the fare. Then, without warning, he suddenly stabbed the driver in the neck inside the vehicle before fleeing on foot back towards Prescot.

The victim managed to drive himself to Whiston Hospital, where he was treated for serious neck injuries.

Police Hunt Larger-Built Local Man in Grey Hoodie

Detectives have scoured CCTV footage and spoken to witnesses but are still appealing for help. Detective Inspector Tracey Martin said:

“This was an unprovoked attack on a man left with serious neck injuries. We are doing everything to find the person responsible and bring him to justice.”

“The suspect is a white male in his twenties, with a Liverpool accent, larger build, light brown hair, and wearing a grey pullover hoodie.”

“If you were near Dragon Lane around 4am on 15 February or have dashcam footage, please come forward. Even months later, your information could be vital.”

“Knife crime will not be tolerated in Merseyside – it has devastating effects on victims, their families, and offenders alike.”
