Drama on the Bridge Near Junction 26 as Police Rescue Man After Hours-Long Standoff
Police Called to Man in Distress
Essex Police scrambled to the scene shortly after 11:15am today (Tuesday 10 October) following reports of a man causing concern on a bridge over the road near Junction 26.
Road Shut Amid Tense Stand-off
Officers worked quickly yet carefully to defuse the situation. For safety reasons, the road was closed to protect everyone involved, including passing motorists.
Man Rescued and Arrest Made
After nearly six hours, the man was safely brought down at around 4:50pm. Traffic resumed as normal soon after.
A man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of intentionally and recklessly causing a public nuisance. He remains in custody as investigations continue.
