Beast jailed for raping 12-year-old he met on hook-up app
Elijah Ofereh-Mugbeh, 26, was slammed with an eight-year prison sentence for raping a 12-year-old girl he met on a hook-up app in 2018. The sickening crime involved him filming the assault to watch later on FaceTime.
Shock claims dismissed at Bristol Crown Court
During his trial at Bristol Crown Court, Ofereh-Mugbeh claimed he thought the girl was 18. Judge Philip Shorrock shredded his defence, saying anyone spending time with the victim would know she was much younger.
Victim’s age and resistance ignored
- Ofereh-Mugbeh, from Whitcher Close, Deptford, was convicted of three counts of raping a child under 13.
- He met the victim via a sex hook-up app and took her virginity after meeting at a train station.
- Despite the girl’s clear reluctance, he pressed on — but the judge said her resistance counted for nothing given her age.
Judge condemns callous offender
Judge Shorrock slammed Ofereh-Mugbeh’s “callous disregard” for the child’s well-being and handed down a hefty custodial sentence.
Police withhold mugshot sparking row
The Met Police refused to release Ofereh-Mugbeh’s custody photo, citing safety concerns. Their move has sparked fierce debate about open justice and the public’s right to know about dangerous offenders on the loose.
