Shock murder in quiet Scarisbrick as pensioner shot dead in field
A 75-year-old man was fatally shot in a Scarisbrick field on Thursday afternoon, sparking a major police response. The victim was found on Pinfold Lane at around 4.55pm and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Arrest made and weapon recovered
Lancashire Police arrested a 29-year-old local man in connection with the murder. Officers recovered a shotgun believed to be linked to the killing. Police confirmed the victim and suspect knew each other and said no one else is currently wanted over the incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Fallows, leading the inquiry, said: “A man has very sadly lost his life as a result of this. We have a dedicated team working to establish what led to his death.”
