Pedestrian Dies in Horror Crash on Newcastle’s A1058 Coast Road
A pedestrian has tragically died after being hit by a vehicle on the A1058 Coast Road in Newcastle in the early hours of 22 October. Emergency services rushed to the scene between the Corner House and Cradlewell at around 1:20 am following reports of the collision.
Man, 50, Pronounced Dead at Scene
The victim, a 50-year-old man, suffered severe injuries. Despite desperate efforts by paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have informed his next of kin and are supporting them with specially trained officers.
Driver Arrested on Dangerous Driving Charges
A man in his 60s has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody as Northumbria Police continue their investigation into the fatal crash.
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
“This is a tragic incident in which a man has sadly lost his life. Our thoughts remain with his family as they come to terms with their loss,” said Sergeant John Sanderson of Northumbria Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
“We are committed to understanding the circumstances that led to the collision and ask anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward. Your dashcam footage or information could prove vital.”
