Ten-Year-Old Left Fight for Face After Shocking E-Bike Hit-and-Run

A young boy in Loughborough, Leicestershire, suffered horrific injuries after being hit by an e-bike – and the rider just took off. Ten-year-old Carter Ralph was playing outside when the Barracuda e-bike smashed into him, nearly severing his nose in a brutal hit-and-run.

Mom’s Horror as Rider Flees Scene

Carter’s mother, Nadine Ralph, 39, was inside the house when she heard her son’s terrifying scream. Rushing out, she found Carter lying on the ground, face bloodied and battered. “He looked like he had been badly beaten up – he was so battered and bruised,” she said.

Carter needed emergency surgery on his nose, mouth, and an eyelid, with doctors warning of months-long recovery. He also suffered a severe bruise across his chest, likely from the bike’s handlebars. Meanwhile, the rider didn’t stop to help, leaving the family and neighbours shocked and devastated.

Police Hunt ‘Heartless’ E-Bike Rider

Residents helped Nadine rush Carter to hospital before police arrived to investigate. CCTV footage from a nearby home caught the rider fleeing on a public footpath. Nadine blasted the cyclist’s cold behaviour on social media: “The fact the cyclist did not stop to check on my child… shows that man has no heart. It is unbelievable behaviour.”

Growing Concern Over E-Bike Dangers

This incident adds to mounting fears over e-bike safety. Last July, a 91-year-old Army veteran died after an e-bike collision in Rochester, Kent. While legal in the UK, e-bikes can reach speeds of 15.5 mph and riders aren’t required to have a licence.

Nadine is calling for tougher laws and harsher penalties to crack down on reckless riders. Carter remains scared of another attack, while police say their hunt for the culprit is still ongoing.
