Predator Jailed for Life After Raping and Killing Mother-of-Three in Southall Park
A “wicked” predator who raped and killed 37-year-old mother-of-three Natalie Shotter has been locked up for life. Mohamed Iidow, 35, was found guilty of rape and manslaughter after a harrowing trial at the Old Bailey.
Brutal Attack Caught on CCTV
On the night of the attack, Natalie, a beloved NHS worker, had spent time out with friends. She passed out on a bench in Southall Park, West London, where Iidow crept up on her. CCTV footage showed the chilling moment he approached her in a predatory manner.
For 15 minutes, Iidow repeatedly raped Natalie while she was unconscious. The trauma caused her to suffer a fatal heart attack. Despite his claims that the sex was consensual, evidence proved she was deeply unconscious throughout the assault.
Natalie’s lifeless body was found early on July 17, 2021, by a passer-by.
Judge Slams ‘Wicked and Utterly Reckless’ Attacker
Judge Richard Marks KC sentenced Iidow to life in prison with a minimum term of 10 years and eight months. In court, he described Iidow’s actions as “wicked and utterly reckless” and said the predator had “clearly formed an intention to rape her.”
The court also revealed Iidow had a past conviction for trying to groom young people online in 2022, even while under investigation for rape.
Family’s Heartbreaking Tributes
Natalie’s mother, Dr Cas Shotter Weetman, a cardiologist, gave a moving statement in court. She described Natalie as a “bundle of joy”, a talented performer, and a devoted mother to her three children, aged 5 to 19.
“Watching the CCTV of my daughter being raped was desperately sad to see. No mother should have to witness that,” said Dr Weetman.
Her father, Andrew Shotter, recalled “wonderful memories” of Natalie performing in Les Misérables as a child and called the news of her death “horrific.”
Prosecutors: ‘Natalie’s Death Was Tragic and Avoidable’
Kirsty O’Connor of the Crown Prosecution Service said:
“Natalie was preyed upon by Mohamed Iidow, who raped her repeatedly while she was unconscious, ultimately causing her death. This was a complex investigation, and we are deeply grateful to her family for their courage and dignity during such a harrowing time. Natalie’s death was a tragic and avoidable loss.”

Community Outraged: Calls for Park Safety
The case has sparked outrage, with many demanding tougher safety measures in public parks to prevent such tragedies.
“No woman should have to fear going to a park and sitting on a bench. It’s disgusting,” said Dr Weetman. “We are missing something crucial when this can happen in broad daylight.”
