Murder probe launched after 28-year-old man stabbed to death in Hemlington
A brutal stabbing in Hemlington has left a 28-year-old man dead in the early hours of Friday, 28 February 2025.
Emergency crews rushed to Fonteyn Court just after midnight following reports of a stabbing. Despite frantic life-saving efforts by paramedics and police, the victim died in a nearby alley.
Massive Murder Investigation Underway
Cleveland Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team (HMET) are on the case, launching a full-scale murder investigation. Detectives are carrying out house-to-house inquiries and combing through CCTV footage to track down the killer.
Police have sealed off several crime scenes and are urging anyone in the area at the time to come forward.
“We have a couple of scenes in place as we begin extensive enquiries. I am keen to hear from anyone who was in the area around the time of the stabbing and either witnessed what took place or has information,” said Senior Investigating Officer Matt Hollingsworth.
“I understand the local community will be concerned, and I want to reassure residents that we are working around the clock to bring those responsible to justice.”

Residents can expect a much heavier police presence moving forward, with extra patrols on the streets to keep Hemlington safe and help progress the investigation.
