Serious Incident Halts Elmstead Woods Station

Emergency services rushed to Elmstead Woods Railway Station after a person was hit by a train on Platform 4 around midday on Saturday, March 1, 2025.

Emergency Response in Full Swing

The British Transport Police (BTP), London Ambulance Service (LAS), and London Fire Brigade (LFB) scrambled to the scene. Paramedics and firefighters, working with railway staff, provided urgent care. A large cordon surrounds the station while investigations and emergency work continue.

Train services through Elmstead Woods have been suspended or severely delayed as the incident is dealt with.

Southeastern rail services took a massive hit. Passengers have been urged to check travel updates before heading out.

“We are aware of an incident at Elmstead Woods and are working closely with emergency services. Services in the area are subject to delays and cancellations. Please check before you travel,” a Southeastern spokesperson said.

Investigation Now Underway

The cause of the incident remains unclear. Authorities are probing whether it was an accident or something else.

“Officers were called to Elmstead Woods Railway Station at around 12:00pm following reports of a person being struck by a train. Emergency services are on the scene, and an investigation is underway,” confirmed a British Transport Police spokesperson.

Public Urged to Help and Find Alternatives

Commuters are urged to find alternative routes while disruption continues. Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40.

Southeastern added: “Due to emergency work in the #Chislehurst area, trains between Chislehurst and Grove Park may be diverted. Passengers can use their tickets at no extra cost on London buses between Orpington and Hither Green, and on London Underground services between London terminals.
