Valentine’s Day Fatal: Two Men Die in Horror A13 Crash
An inquest has been opened into the death of Laimonas Narvydas, 37, from Collier Row, who was killed in a devastating car crash on Valentine’s Day. The tragic collision on the A13 near the Ferry Lane Interchange in Rainham claimed the lives of two men.
How the Crash Unfolded
Laimonas Narvydas was a passenger in a speeding Audi heading west on the A13 when the car lost control. The Audi clipped another vehicle before skidding across the central reservation and smashing into a Honda Jazz. The driver of the Honda, known locally as ‘Kalin’, also died at the scene.
Police Investigation and Coroner’s Statement
East London Coroner’s Court confirmed CCTV and dash cam footage caught the horror on camera. Coroner Nadia Persaud said:
“I’m satisfied on those facts this death occurred in circumstances requiring an inquest.”
The inquest will pause if police press charges, pending the outcome of legal proceedings. A police investigation is ongoing.
Laimonas, a Lithuanian national from Cross Road, was pronounced dead at 5:23PM by a doctor from the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS). The cause of death was “multiple severe traumatic injuries.”
His partner has identified his body. An online fundraiser reveals he leaves behind a 10-year-old daughter. The coroner has named his family “interested persons,” giving them rights to review evidence and raise questions.
Third Man Hospitalised, Arrest Made
A third man involved suffered life-changing injuries and remains hospitalised. A man in his mid-40s was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving but has since been released on bail until late March.

The Metropolitan Police have urged anyone who saw the crash or has dash cam footage to get in touch.
