Gangland Boss Behind Dalston Drive-By Shooting Nabbed in Turkey
Kemal Armagan, a senior figure in the notorious Hackney Bombers gang, has been arrested in Izmir, Turkey. He’s linked to a brutal drive-by shooting in Dalston that left a nine-year-old girl with life-changing injuries.
Child Shot in Gang Feud Chaos
On the evening of May 29, 2024, a gang hit turned deadly on Kingsland High Street. A gunman on a motorcycle opened fire at a restaurant, wounding four people, including the young girl dining with her family. The violence is part of a bloody turf war between two rival Kurdish gangs, the Hackney Bombacilar (“Bombers”) and the Tottenham Turks.
The young victim’s injuries have been described as life-changing, with police providing ongoing support to her and her family.
Arrest Sparks Hope in Multi-Murder Probe
Armagan isn’t just wanted for the Dalston shooting. He’s also suspected in the murder of Izzet Eren, a Tottenham Turks boss shot in Moldova last summer. This killing is believed to be part of a violent tit-for-tat spree between the gangs.
Beyond that, Armagan faces charges linked to two other murders, including the 2009 assassination of Ahmet Paytak, a North London shopkeeper killed inside his store on Hornsey Road.
Turkish authorities confirm the 43-year-old had been living under a false identity for ten years. He’s expected to face prosecution in Turkey, with extradition to the UK possible.
London Police Push for More Leads
While Armagan’s arrest is a major breakthrough, the Metropolitan Police are still hunting those responsible for the Dalston shooting. One man was charged in August with four counts of attempted murder, and three others arrested last month for conspiracy to murder remain on bail.
“A little girl’s life was traumatically changed on the evening of Wednesday, May 29. The dangerous individual responsible for those life-changing injuries remains on our streets, and people out there know who pulled the trigger.” – Detective Chief Inspector Ben Dalloway
Police urge anyone with info, especially about a Ducati Monster motorcycle spotted near the attack, to come forward. You don’t have to speak directly to the police — tips can be anonymous through Crimestoppers.
The Metropolitan Police and Interpol are working closely with Turkish authorities but have not released further details.
