Staplehurst Restaurant Stuns Staff After Diner Walk-Out on Nearly £300 Bill
A well-loved eatery in Staplehurst has blasted a group of diners for allegedly skipping out on a hefty bill — leaving staff and onlookers fuming.
Luxury Meal, Lowball Payment
Jumeira Staplehurst, famed for quality grub and top-tier service, revealed the shocking incident happened Sunday evening. The diners wolfed down a full meal, even snagging takeaway goodies to go — but hit the brakes when it came time to settle up.
Staff say the service was smooth all night and diners voiced no complaints. But when faced with a bill near £300, the group suddenly claimed they weren’t happy with the meal or service and flat-out refused to pay.
Outrage as Only £30 Left Behind
Not only did the group refuse to cough up the full amount, they caused a scene by arguing with the staff and other customers who called them out. They left just £30 behind — despite taking takeaway food straight to their car.
Jumeira Hits Back with a Public Warning
“Beware of the individuals in the photos below. They dined with us on Sunday evening and received the same high standard of service we provide to all our guests. They had the cheek to order takeaway items — which they collected and placed in their car — before claiming they were unhappy with their meal and refusing to pay the full amount.
They argued with our staff and other diners, and left just £30 after running up a bill near enough £300. These individuals are no longer welcome in any of our establishments. To the diners who stood up for our team — we truly appreciate your support.”
The restaurant has shared photos of the culprits online, urging anyone with info to come forward. The aim? To stop similar dodgy behaviour hitting their door again.
Folks are asked to contact Jumeira directly if they recognise the group.
