Teen Brawl Turns Nasty at Elm Park Birthday Bash

A 16th birthday party in Elm Park exploded into violence on Saturday night, leaving two teens stabbed and several police officers hurt after a huge street brawl.

Knives Wielded as Panic Breaks Out at School Hall

The chaos kicked off around 9pm at a school hall on Calbourne Avenue. Video footage shared online shows terrified youngsters running for cover while knives are seen flashing in the frenzy.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed a 16-year-old and a 19-year-old male were rushed to hospital with stab wounds. Thankfully, injuries are not life-threatening.

Local MP Condemns Shocking Violence

“I was shocked and utterly condemn the appalling disorder which took place in Elm Park over the weekend,” said Margaret Mullane, MP for Dagenham and Rainham.

“I am led to believe none of the injuries were life changing or life threatening, which is a relief for the parents of the victims, and for the police who also suffered injury.”

Up to 50 Teens Involved; Police Officers Attacked

According to Havering Daily, as many as 50 youths took part in the rampage. Residents were shocked to hear knives were allegedly left on nearby driveways — though police have not confirmed this.

Officers who arrived were met with fierce aggression and sustained minor injuries. Three teenagers were arrested on suspicion of assaulting emergency workers and have since been bailed pending investigations.

Mullane said she will be questioning the police over how the violence spiralled and why they chose to disperse the crowd instead of intervening sooner.

“In the coming days, I will be asking how so many youths were able to carry out an attack like this, and I will be asking why dispersal was the route taken by officers.”
