Drugs Kingpin’s Cash and Bling Snatched in £30k Seizure
Ged Shone-Porter was locked up for nearly 11 years in January 2022 after admitting to conspiracy to supply class A and B drugs and possessing criminal property.
£14,000 Cash and Luxury Watches Confiscated
Police raided his Essex home and found a whopping £14,270 in cash plus two posh watches worth a combined £15,857. Using the Proceeds of Crime Act, investigators from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate moved swiftly to seize these assets after Shone-Porter failed to prove they were legally earned.
A judge at Maidstone Crown Court backed the move, signing off on the confiscation order on 23 November 2022.
Crackdown on Drug Empire Linked to EncroChat
Shone-Porter, 26, was tied to an organised crime ring operating across Chatham and Tunbridge Wells. This gang trafficked massive quantities of drugs, relying on the encrypted EncroChat platform to secretly communicate.
The network’s downfall came when French and Dutch police cracked EncroChat’s secret messaging in 2020, sharing intelligence with the UK’s National Crime Agency.
Drug Processing Factory Uncovered in Essex
Police linked Shone-Porter to a Maldon address and caught him nearby in August 2021. When stopped, he cheekily warned: “You probably wanna get your bin bags ready if you’re coming here mate.”
Officers found the property rigged as a drug processing plant with:
- A press for producing kilogram blocks
- At least 12 kilograms of cocaine, many stamped with logos
- Mixing bowls and cutting agents
- Three kilograms of cannabis
Shone-Porter was identified through EncroChat messages as the man who ‘cut’ and repackaged cocaine to maximise profits.
Detective’s Verdict: No Excuse for Wealth from Crime
“Most law-abiding people don’t leave over £14,000 in cash at home or flaunt luxury watches without a proper explanation,” said Detective Inspector David Godfrey.
“Coupled with the huge haul of drugs, there’s no doubt Shone-Porter made his money through cocaine and cannabis dealing.”
“His case proves the law catches up with criminals eventually. The Proceeds of Crime Act ensures offenders don’t get to enjoy their dirty gains.”
Justice served and the dirty money wiped off the streets.
