Two 19-year-olds die as Tesla taxi smashes into tree after Christmas party – horror caught on Oxted’s dark roads

Birthday Bash Turns Deadly

Jake Neaves and Jenson Seal, both 19, lost their lives when the Tesla taxi they hailed from Oxted train station crashed into a tree just before 10pm on Saturday night. The pair were heading home from a festive night out with friends when tragedy struck on Holland Road, Hurst Green.

Six friends split into two cabs after the Christmas party. Jake, Jenson, and another friend were in the Tesla that burst into flames after the collision. Two friends in the second taxi bravely pulled Jake and Jenson from the burning wreckage before emergency crews arrived.

Driver Arrested in Deadly Crash

Police swooped and arrested a 30-year-old man from Oxted, believed to be the driver, on suspicion of causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving. Surrey Police are urging anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage, or who saw the crash, to come forward immediately.

Community in Shock as Tributes Pour In

The local community is mourning the loss of two “lovely lads with hearts of gold.” Friends remember Jake as a gifted footballer and Jenson as the class clown who kept everyone laughing. Flowers and heartfelt messages have been left at the crash site and schools.

Deer on Narrow Lanes May Have Played a Role

Residents warn deer often dart onto Holland Road and nearby lanes. One witness recalled a recent crash caused by a driver swerving to avoid a deer less than 100 metres from where Jake and Jenson’s Tesla slammed into the tree. Investigations continue.

Emergency services lit up the country lane with flashing blue lights and the road was closed for hours but has now reopened. Specialist officers are supporting the grieving families through this devastating time.
