A 49-year-old woman from Cornwall who triggered a high-risk missing persons search has been found safe, her family confirmed today.

Claire Bennett, from St Austell, disappeared on the afternoon of August 11. CCTV footage captured her at Truro railway station, where she was last seen wearing a white vest top with red and burgundy stripes, blue cotton shorts, and standing approximately 5ft 8in tall.

The reason for her journey from St Austell to Truro remains unknown. Her sudden disappearance caused concern among her loved ones, with her daughter Lauren launching a heartfelt public appeal describing the situation as “completely out of character.”

Following the relief of finding Claire safe, Lauren posted on Facebook: “Mum has been found safe. Could I please ask as a family you respect our privacy at this time. Thank you all once again.”

Devon and Cornwall Police have not yet confirmed whether the official missing persons alert has been lifted.
