Bedfordshire Police have recovered equipment valued at over £250,000 after a burglary at a business in Upper Caldecote. The incident occurred on Sunday night, 7 January, prompting a swift investigation by local officers.
Police traced the stolen gear to an address in Leighton Buzzard, where a man in his 30s from London was arrested on suspicion of burglary. He has since been released on bail pending further inquiries.
In a related operation targeting burglary and theft from business premises, community officers made five additional arrests in Bedford this week. On Monday, three men were detained on suspicion of shoplifting offences in the town centre, as part of increased patrols addressing rising crime.
Two more arrests followed on Tuesday as part of the same crackdown. Detective Superintendent Trevor Davidson of Bedfordshire Police commented: “Theft and burglary can ruin people’s lives and businesses. We will continue to show our communities that we will not tolerate this activity. The swift recovery of this expensive equipment shows what is possible when we have all the right information and act decisively.”
He encouraged the public to report any criminal activity to assist police in keeping communities safe.
