Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas Markle, 81, was rushed into intensive care after emergency surgery. The pensioner suddenly fell ill at his home on Tuesday and was quickly taken to hospital for urgent treatment.
On Thursday, Thomas underwent a gruelling three-hour operation. Following the surgery, doctors moved him to intensive care with plans for a second operation to remove a blood clot.
Thomas Jr, his son, said, “I took dad to a hospital close to our home and they did various scans and the doctors said his life was in imminent danger. They raced us by ambulance, with sirens going, to a bigger hospital in the city. My dad has undergone emergency surgery.”
He added, “I would ask everyone around the world to keep him in their thoughts. My only wish is that Meghan shows my father some compassion. He is literally fighting for his life.”
Thomas’s daughter, Samantha Markle, also shared her hopes for his recovery: “He is a strong man, but he has been through so much. I am praying that he is strong enough to survive this. My father has been through two heart attacks, a stroke and even an earthquake. I hope he can pull through this.”
Thomas Markle has faced serious health challenges in recent years, including two heart attacks and a stroke. After living in Mexico for ten years, he relocated to the Philippines earlier this year.
Thomas has been estranged from Meghan Markle since 2018, following the royal wedding. He missed walking her down the aisle due to health issues, and the two have not spoken since. Their relationship deteriorated further after Thomas staged paparazzi photos before the wedding, which sparked a bitter family feud that remains unresolved.
This news comes shortly after the release of Meghan’s new Netflix Christmas special, With Love, Meghan Holiday Celebration, which premiered today. The festive show features Meghan sharing Christmas traditions and celebrations with friends, all dressed in matching red pajamas, and has already sparked mixed reactions among viewers.
