Nam Le, aged 30, has been jailed for two years and nine months following a significant cannabis seizure by West Midlands Police. The 23kg of cannabis, valued at up to £140,000, was confiscated during a police raid on his Lloyd Road residence in Handsworth, Birmingham, in October.

The operation was part of the broader Operation Fearless, an initiative aimed at tackling organised crime across the West Midlands region. During the raid, officers discovered 2kg of cannabis hidden inside a wardrobe along with £8,000 in cash in a bedroom. Additionally, £1,000 was found in a car linked to Le parked outside the property.

Further investigation revealed a nearby van connected to Le containing suitcases and bags with an extra 21kg of cannabis. Detective Inspector Tom Lyons described the seizure as “a significant recovery of drugs.”

Le pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis with intent to supply and possession of criminal property. At Birmingham Crown Court last Friday, he received a prison sentence of nearly three years.

Detective Inspector Lyons highlighted the impact of the seizure on organised crime, stating, “We believe the drugs belonged to a wider organised crime group and would have been sold to fund further serious criminal activities.” This confiscation represents a notable setback for criminal networks operating in Birmingham.
