Kent Roads Policing are currently managing a major incident on the A2 at Wilmington, Dartford. Both sides of the carriageway have been closed, resulting in significant disruption for motorists.
The crash occurred just after 3am on Saturday, November 12, involving multiple vehicles on the coastbound side. Police and ambulance crews are also attending the London-bound carriageway. All lanes remain shut while officers conduct a full investigation into the collision.
The closure is expected to last for several hours, with authorities advising drivers to avoid the area and seek alternative routes to minimise delays.
A National Highways spokesperson stated: “The A2 in Kent is closed in both directions between the M25/A282 and A2018 near Dartford due to a Kent Police-led incident. Police are on scene, supported by National Highways Traffic Officers. The closures will stay in place for investigation work.”
For westbound drivers, the recommended diversion is to exit at M25 Junction 2 and take the A225 (Princes Road). Continue along the A225 before rejoining the A2 at Dartford Heath. Eastbound drivers should follow the same diversion in reverse.
Kent Police have been contacted for further details. Motorists are encouraged to stay tuned for updates as the situation develops.
