Essex Police, Fire & Rescue, and National Highways crews are currently working to clear a two-car crash on the A12 in Essex. The accident has left a significant amount of debris, including oil and fuel, scattered across the road, along with damaged vehicles and a battered central reservation barrier that requires urgent repairs.
The A12 is closed between Boreham and Hatfield Peverel while emergency teams manage the incident. Motorists are trapped and facing major delays as the closure remains in place. Essex Police have stated that once the closure is established, they will do their best to release stranded road users quickly and restore traffic flow as soon as possible.
Drivers are strongly advised to follow the official diversion route marked with a solid triangle on road signs to avoid the affected area and reduce delays. The diversion instructions are as follows:
Exit the A12 at junction 19 (Boreham Interchange). At the first roundabout, take the fifth exit onto the A130. At the second roundabout (Generals Lane), cross over the A12 and take the fourth exit onto B1137 Main Road towards Boreham. Continue on the B1137 through Hatfield Peverel, where the road becomes The Street. Rejoin the A12 at junction 20b.
Following these directions will help drivers avoid getting stuck in traffic and save time on their journeys while the road remains closed for emergency repairs.
