Essex Police have launched an urgent investigation following a serious sexual assault reported near The Bottle Kiln Wetherspoons in Harwich at approximately 6am on 6 August.

The victim is receiving support from specialised officers as she copes with this traumatic experience. A police cordon has been established at an alleyway connecting Kings Way to Empire Road, with officers remaining on site throughout the day to search for evidence.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen or filmed anything suspicious in the early hours to come forward. They are particularly interested in any CCTV or dashcam footage that could assist in the investigation.
