PC Claudia Pastina, who served with the Central South Basic Command Unit, was dismissed after a misconduct panel found her guilty of breaching professional standards during an incident in Stockwell.
The misconduct hearing took place on Monday, 20 November, where the panel concluded that PC Pastina violated rules related to ‘Use of Force’, ‘Authority, Respect and Courtesy’, and ‘Discreditable Conduct’.
Previously, on 12 December 2022, PC Pastina was convicted of assault by beating. She received a 16-week suspended sentence for two years and was fined £748.
The incident occurred in February 2022 when PC Pastina and a colleague responded to reports of a suspicious man on Stockwell Park Road, SW9. Officers asked the man to leave, but he refused. When he resisted arrest, the officers handcuffed him. During the struggle, the man bit PC Pastina and scratched another officer with keys.
Despite charging the man with assaulting an emergency worker, PC Pastina struck him several times in the face. These actions led to the misconduct case against her.
Detective Chief Superintendent Seb Adjei-Addoh of the Central South Basic Command Unit condemned PC Pastina’s conduct, stating: “The public trusts us to use our powers fairly and professionally, maintaining the highest standards at all times. In this case, those standards were not met. PC Pastina’s behaviour was completely unacceptable.”
He added, “We will always investigate wrongdoing and take appropriate action.”
Following the hearing, PC Pastina has been placed on the Barred List maintained by the College of Policing. This listing prohibits her from working in police forces, local policing bodies, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, or His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services.
