A quiet neighbourhood in Salisbury was left in shock after a fatal stabbing incident that claimed the life of Darren Hughes, aged 52. The incident occurred at a property on Davies Road, Longhedge, on Saturday morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 7.52am following reports of a serious incident. Paramedics worked to save Mr Hughes but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alfie Miller, 21, from Willow Drive, Durrington, has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the stabbing. He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Wiltshire Police confirmed they are providing support to Darren Hughes’s family through specially trained officers. A police cordon remained in place over the weekend as forensic teams conducted a thorough search for evidence.

“You just don’t expect something like this to happen here. It’s frightening. My thoughts are with the man’s family,” said a local resident.

Authorities have not disclosed the motive behind the stabbing but have assured the public that there is no wider threat. The investigation is ongoing.
