Chaos erupted early Sunday when a man fell down a well on Cheadle High Street. Staffordshire Fire & Rescue were scrambled after West Midlands Ambulance Service raised the alarm at 8:40am.

A Staffordshire Fire spokesperson said, “Three crews are currently at the scene, along with a technical rescue unit from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.” Staffordshire Police quickly shut the road as emergency teams raced against the clock to save the trapped man.

The man was hauled from the well by 10:35am, with ambulance crews immediately checking his condition on site. Firefighters, police, and paramedics worked seamlessly in a high-pressure operation.

Residents and shoppers faced disruption as the street stayed closed during the dramatic rescue. Authorities are awaiting updates on the man’s health as medical teams carry out assessments.
