A 24-year-old man has been charged after launching a brutal assault on a female pub worker in Whitstable.
Kent Police were called to The Peter Cushing Wetherspoon on Oxford Street just after 11pm on Friday, 19 December 2025. Trouble flared when a man refused to leave the pub, sparking a violent attack against a female staff member.
Paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service rushed the woman to a local hospital with facial injuries. Thankfully, she has since been discharged.
After a swift investigation, officers arrested 24-year-old Leon Whimsett from Gilchrist Avenue, Herne Bay, on Friday, 9 January 2026. He was charged with assault and failing to leave licensed premises that same evening.
Whimsett was granted bail with strict conditions. He faces Margate Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 26 February.
