The Hampshire Fire and Rescue Urban Search and Rescue team responded swiftly on Saturday afternoon after a worker injured himself atop scaffolding at a building site in Cosham.
Based in Eastleigh, the team was alerted just after 3pm and was quickly joined by fire crews from Cosham and Fareham to assist with the rescue.
Using a high-tech pulley rope system, crews were able to reach the stranded worker and safely lower him to the ground.
Meanwhile, a Hart team from the South Central Ambulance Service arrived at the scene to stabilise the injured man before the rescue operation began.
The worker was carefully moved in a basket stretcher from the scaffolding to solid ground and then rushed to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth for treatment.
