Andrew Temple, the notorious paedophile convicted of raping his niece from the age of eight, has died while serving his sentence in prison. The 60-year-old was serving an eight-year term for multiple horrific sex crimes when he passed away at HMP Edinburgh on Saturday, October 11, 2025.

Temple, originally from Loanhead in Midlothian, was found guilty at Edinburgh High Court of seven offences, including two counts of rape and three counts of indecent behaviour against his niece, Kerrie Feehan. In addition, he faced two further charges of indecency involving boys. His abuse spanned several locations including Easthouses, Dalkeith, and Fort William between 1996 and 2004.

Kerrie Feehan, the victim, disclosed the traumatic ordeal she endured, revealing she was assaulted up to 3,000 times between the ages of 8 and 16. The abuse began when Temple raped her while her sister was asleep in the next room. At 15, deeply traumatised, Kerrie attempted to take her own life by overdose. Despite this, Temple sneaked into her hospital room and attacked her again.

Kerrie later discovered she was pregnant with Temple’s child but sadly lost the baby at four months. At 17, she secretly recorded Temple in an effort to obtain a confession. However, Temple became suspicious and violently attacked her with a knife during the confrontation.

Kerrie reported the abuse to police on multiple occasions. Despite her reports in 2003 and again in 2010, authorities initially failed to act, allowing Temple to continue his crimes. It was not until 2014, after Kerrie moved to South Shields and received support from her partner Caroline, that the case proceeded to trial. Temple denied all charges but was ultimately convicted and imprisoned.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Prison Service confirmed the death, stating: “Andrew Temple, 60, of HMP Edinburgh has died on 11 October 2025.”
