An incident at HMP Swaleside prison is currently being managed by officials, involving only a handful of inmates on a single wing. Authorities have confirmed that there is no risk to the public.
This afternoon, police cars and two Tornado Squad rapid response vans were dispatched to the Sheppey prison located in Eastchurch. Emergency crews were deployed promptly to contain the situation.
The disturbance has been confined to one landing on a single prison wing. The remainder of the facility remains secure, with all other prisoners locked in their cells.
A Prison Service spokesman stated, “We are absolutely clear that offenders who behave in this way will be punished and face spending extra time behind bars.”
