Construction has officially started on a major new industrial and logistics centre at Immingham. Associated British Ports (ABP) has commenced work on the first phase of its Helm @ Immingham project.
The extensive 227-acre site is located adjacent to the A180, between Grimsby and the busy Immingham port complex. This initial phase will add over 100,000 square feet of industrial space, with planning approval already granted by North East Lincolnshire Council.
ABP plans to develop eight brand-new units designed to accommodate businesses of all sizes. These units will range from small starter workshops to large industrial facilities, supporting a variety of sectors including engineering, manufacturing, energy, logistics, and port-related services.
“We’re set to offer versatile options to boost local industry and support the port’s growth,” said an ABP spokesperson.
When fully completed, Helm @ Immingham could provide more than 1.1 million square feet of commercial property alongside 90 acres of open storage space, ideal for automotive and logistics companies. The development will incorporate eco-friendly features such as renewable energy solutions and biodiversity improvements to align with ABP’s sustainability objectives.
To market the new units, ABP has partnered with agents JLL, Gent Visick, and PPH, enhancing their property portfolio and attracting diverse tenants.
The site has been designated for industrial use for over ten years, with planning permission including access roads and industrial operations. Previously, the area was farmland.
This significant development is expected to generate a surge in jobs and new business opportunities, establishing Immingham as a key industrial hub for the foreseeable future.
