An elderly man has died instantly in a horrific collision involving a car, lorry, and pedestrian in Harlow. The crash occurred on Gilden Way just before 9am, causing chaos and a lengthy road closure.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene at around 8:50am following reports of the collision. Essex Police confirmed that the victim, a man in his 70s who was driving the car, died at the scene.
The serious crash forced Gilden Way to close for several hours, resulting in major traffic delays and frustration for commuters in the area.
A pedestrian was also injured in the incident and was taken to hospital. Fortunately, their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or permanently disabling.
“This tragic incident has shocked the local community in Harlow,” said a police spokesperson as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
