Just after midnight on Friday, 11 March 2022, a tragic hit-and-run incident occurred on Main Street, resulting in the death of 36-year-old James Risk. James was struck by a Kia Optima, and despite the rapid response of emergency crews, he was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed and is grieving the loss.

A 26-year-old man has since been arrested in connection with the incident. Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision to determine exactly how the crash unfolded.

Paying tribute to James, friends described him as “the life and soul of the party.” They said, “He was loved by everyone who knew him and lit up every room. He was a talented bricklayer and bowler and will be so missed by all of us. A light has gone out of our lives but he will be remembered in our hearts forever.”

The road where the collision occurred was closed for approximately five hours to allow for a full police investigation. Sergeant David Marr of the Stirling Road Policing Unit commented, “Our thoughts go out to James’ family and friends. Although this happened in the early hours of the morning, we are appealing to anyone with any information surrounding the incident to come forward and speak to police. We are continuing our investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision. I would again ask that anyone who has any information, or dash-cam footage that could help with our investigation, to contact officers via 101, quoting incident number 0029 of Friday, 11 March, 2022.”
