Armed police stormed a £500,000 home in Portsmouth following reports of a shooting that left multiple victims injured. The incident occurred just before 10am on Wednesday, September 14, at a four-bedroom house on Holcot Lane in the Anchorage Park estate.

Paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service also attended the scene of what police have described as a tragic event. Neighbours, shocked by the chaos, reported that former jewellery shop manager Christopher Stone-Houghton allegedly opened fire, injuring family members before reportedly turning the gun on himself.

One anonymous neighbour said: “I heard several loud bangs – it definitely sounded like gunshots.”

A large police cordon now surrounds the property as specialist crime scene officers and major crime detectives work to piece together the events. Hampshire Police have confirmed a murder investigation is ongoing following the deaths of a 60-year-old woman and a 66-year-old man found inside the house.

A police spokesperson stated: “Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the death of a woman in Portsmouth. Officers were called to an address on Holcot Lane at 10.27am on Wednesday 14 September. The bodies of a 60-year-old woman and a 66-year-old man were found inside. We are treating this as an isolated incident and reassure the community that there is no wider risk. We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this.”

“We will maintain a police presence in the coming days and thank residents for their patience while we carry out our investigation. Formal identification procedures are ongoing, and specialist officers are supporting the family.”

The crime scene is expected to remain sealed off for some time as the investigation continues. Local residents remain in shock following the tragedy that has deeply affected the quiet estate. Further updates will be provided as the investigation unfolds.
