Just after 2.30pm on Monday, police responded to reports of a violent group assault on a teenage girl outside Thomas Knyvett College in Ashford, Surrey. Upon arrival, officers found the victim injured at the scene.
Authorities have arrested five individuals in connection with the attack: a 39-year-old woman, a 43-year-old man, and three girls aged 16, 11, and 10. However, a 15-year-old girl involved in the incident remains at large. Police confirm that she is aware they are actively searching for her.
A disturbing video circulating online shows the gang viciously kicking and hitting the girl while she lies helpless on the pavement. Adult voices can be heard encouraging the attackers and instructing them to cause harm. The assault ends as school staff come outside, with strands of the victim’s hair left scattered on the pavement.
A Surrey Police spokesperson said, “We are aware this incident has caused alarm for students, parents, staff, and the wider community. An investigation is underway, and we are working closely with Thomas Knyvett College.” They added, “We urge the public not to share videos or images of the attack but to submit any footage to the police to assist with the investigation.”
Inspector Maxine Cilia, Borough Commander for Spelthorne, expressed her shock, stating, “I was astounded by the violent behaviour shown by young people outside one of our local schools. Every child should feel safe in their neighbourhood and not be targeted with violence after school.”
Extra police patrols will be increased in the area to reassure residents and maintain a close watch on school grounds.
Surrey Police are appealing for witnesses and any form of evidence, including CCTV, dashcam, or helmet cam footage, as well as images and videos. They specifically seek information from anyone near Salcombe Road between 2pm and 3pm on Monday who saw or heard anything suspicious.
To report information or submit footage, members of the public are encouraged to visit the Surrey Police website.
