Samuel Carragher, 20, from Newhaven, has been charged with numerous child sex offences after a large-scale online child abuse investigation conducted by Sussex Police’s Online Child Abuse Team. The investigation began in June 2025 after officers identified disturbing online activity linked to Carragher.
The probe uncovered that Carragher’s offences involved at least 14 victims aged between 13 and 17 years old. These crimes spanned a period of three years, from 2022 to 2025.
Carragher now faces multiple charges, including 2 counts of distributing indecent images of children, 3 counts of making indecent images of children, and 10 counts of sexual communication with a child. Additional charges include 3 counts of threatening to share intimate images, 4 counts of causing or inciting girls aged 13 to 15 to engage in penetrative sex, and 5 counts of inciting girls aged 13 to 15 to engage in non-penetrative sex.
Further allegations against Carragher include 2 counts of causing girls aged 13 to 15 to view sexual images, 1 count of sending a genital image to cause alarm or distress, 3 counts of paying for sexual services of girls aged 13 to 15, 3 counts of paying for sexual services of girls aged 16 to 17, and 1 count of paying for sexual services of a girl under 13. He is also charged with 1 count of possessing an extreme pornographic image.
Carragher appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 24 March. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear again on Wednesday, 22 April. The specific court venue for the next hearing has not yet been confirmed.
Sussex Police have emphasised their commitment to safeguarding all known victims as the detailed investigation continues.
