West Midlands Police have launched an investigation following a stabbing incident during a disorder in Smethwick on the evening of Tuesday, 26 May. Officers were called to Foundry Lane shortly before 9.30pm after reports of a large crowd gathering, which led to two men sustaining stab wounds.
Upon arrival, police found a chaotic scene with numerous people present, prompting an immediate emergency response. Both men were treated at the scene and taken to hospital, with a 21-year-old man reported to be in serious condition.
Following the incident, three suspects were arrested on suspicion of wounding. The suspects include a 19-year-old and two 18-year-olds, who remain in police custody as inquiries continue.
Detectives are currently reviewing CCTV footage and conducting witness interviews to establish the full circumstances surrounding the disorder and stabbing. Officers have stressed the seriousness of violence and weapon use within the community.
Detective Inspector Francis Nock commented: “Serious violence and the use of weapons on our streets impacts communities, causes fear and will not be tolerated. We will have officers in the area today to offer reassurance to the local community and would ask anyone with information to get in touch.”
