Big Jet TV founder and aviation enthusiast Jerry Dyer has returned home after facing a life-threatening health battle. Following major heart surgery complications, Jerry is now beginning his recovery, with fans around the world celebrating his progress.
Jerry was discharged from hospital last Friday and quickly reconnected with his passion for aviation. By Saturday, he was already checking his streaming equipment and considering a return to live streaming. However, understanding the importance of patience, Jerry chose to take it slow, enjoying a gentle drive around Heathrow Airport accompanied by close friends and members of the Big Jet TV community. This outing lifted his spirits and allowed him to briefly slip back into “avgeek mode,” reminding everyone why he is regarded as a leading figure in aviation streaming.
The road to recovery has been challenging. After heart valve surgery, Jerry suffered two strokes, necessitating intensive care and specialist rehabilitation. Throughout this difficult period, Jerry’s family and team have expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support from fans worldwide, describing their messages as “invaluable” during the darkest days. Special recognition was given to the medical teams at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The cardiac, neurology, and stroke experts at these facilities played a crucial role in his treatment and recovery.
Jerry Dyer rose to prominence during Storm Eunice in February 2022, when his live broadcasts of aircraft battling severe winds at Heathrow Airport attracted over 200,000 viewers at peak and amassed millions of views globally. What began as a hobby quickly turned into a full-time career, with Jerry traveling across Europe and the United States and building a large international fanbase of aviation enthusiasts.
Currently, Jerry’s main focus is on healing. Friends report that he is eager to resume streaming but is adhering to medical advice and progressing at his own pace. His personal mantra remains, “Slowly, slowly catchy cruiser.” The Big Jet TV community continues to offer strong support and encouragement as Jerry prepares for the next phase of his journey. One thing is certain: when Jerry returns, aviation fans worldwide will be ready and waiting.
