A suspect has been charged after cigarettes were targeted in reported shop burglaries in two west Kent villages.

Kent Police was contacted following an attempt to break into a Kemsing shop at around 1am on 29 November 2019.

Approximately two hours later, entry was gained to a shop in Lamberhurst and a quantity of cigarettes was reported stolen.

On Wednesday 15 April 2020, Asso Salhi of Rooley Moor Road, Rochdale was arrested at his home address.

The 30-year-old was later charged with an attempted burglary in West End,Lamberhurst and a burglary in High Street, Lamberhurst. He was also charged with a burglary on Low Road, Leeds on 20 February 2020 where cigarettes were reported stolen.

Mr Salhi has been remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday 17 April.
