Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate have charged two men following the discovery of three kilograms of cocaine in Chatham

At around 2.15pm on Friday 27 November 2020 officers searched a vehicle in a car park in New Cut Road where they found three large packets containing the class A drug.

 

Evaldas Stanionis, 52, of Cinque Ports Street in Rye, East Sussex, was arrested at the scene and later charged with four counts related to the supply of cocaine, cannabis and amphetamine.

 

He appeared before Medway magistrates the following day and was remanded in custody until his next appearance at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday 4 January 2021.

 

Further enquiries led to the arrest of a second man at the Port of Dover at around 5.05pm on Sunday 29 November.

 

Arunas Zemaitis, 49, from Lithuania, has since been charged with two counts of being concerned in the supply of cocaine and appeared before Folkestone magistrates on 1 December.

 

He was also remanded in custody and will join Mr Stanionis at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday 4 January 2021.
