Eight charges after delivery vehicles reported stolen across north Kent

Eight charges have been authorised against two men who are alleged to have stolen vans from delivery drivers across north Kent.

Each offence is reported to have taken place after the victim exited their vehicles to deliver items to an address.

In the first incident, a Ford Transit is said to have been stolen in Lordswood Lane, Chatham at around 12.45pm on 12 January 2021.

Eight days later, a further two offences were reported. A Fiat Ducato is said to have been stolen in Main Road, Longfield, shortly after midday and a Renault Traffic was reportedly taken in Princes Road, Dartford, at around 5pm.

Riley Scamp, 27, of Horsford Walk, Faversham, and Liam Cook, 28, of Shoreham Road, Orpington, have each been charged with conspiracy to commit theft, and three counts of theft of a motor vehicle.

Following a hearing at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday 25 January, Mr Cook has been remanded in custody to attend Maidstone Crown Court on Monday 22 February. Mr Scamp has been released on bail, to attend the same court hearing.
